I did a WINDOWS UPDATE and installed the new Internet Explorer 7 (IE 7). It messed up my machine, and I didn't have any RESTORE POINTS, so I tried to RESTORE an Acronis Image backup from the previous day. Trying to restore image from G: drive (USB) to my C: drive.

I got an error "E006403EE - Error while creating a task script. Cannot create the task script, a possible reason might be bad sectors on your hard disk or your hard disk is write-protected."

So I did a CHECK DISK on my hard disk (C: drive), and tried it again.

    Same error message.

Then I tried doing the Acronis image restore using the Acronis "bootable media" from a CD (so I didn't have to load Windows first). That restore appears to have WORKED!

    A few questions:
    1. In the error message, was it referring to my C: drive or the backup image on my G: drive?
    2. Any ideas what the problem was?
    3. Why did it work with the "bootable media"?

    Thanks,
    Mike Levy

I'm using: Acronis True Image Home® version 9.0 (build 3,677)

    I'm using: Windows XP Professional

I am able to create a file in the Scripts directory.

I created all the REPORTS you requested, and filed another SUPPORT REQUEST with Acronis.
