I get this error message everyday when doing an incremental backup. Is there a way to set Acronis to ignore this sector automatically? Is there a way I can tell which program is causing thhis error message?

"Cannot create the image of the logical drive C: because it is currently in use by running applications or the logical drive contains bad sectors."

This drive a barely a week old, so I can't imagine is the drive. Perhaps there is a a kill all apps script I can use?

What version and build of TI are you using?

What version of Windows are you using?

Are you doing the incremental backup from Windows?

Does this error message happen when you do a FULL backup?

Do you get the same error if you do the incremental backup booted to the TI cd? If you don't then it's not a sector error. There is probably some other program running in Windows that is not allowing TI to lock the drive.

What other programs do you have running? (Anti-virus, disk tools, defraggers, etc.)

If you want to rule out bad sectors, run chkdsk /r on the drive and see if it finds any.

I believe i am using the latest build. I'm using Windows XP Home SP1. I am doing incremental backups from windows and this message also happens with a full backup as well. I have not tried doing the incremental backup from the bootcd, this will be my next move and thank you.

I am running Eset for my antivirus and diskeeper.

I will also try chkdsk /r and report the results. Thanks!

TI 10 home is not listed as supporting XP SP1. You are presumably aware that Microsoft no longer offer critical or security updates for XP versions below SP2. So you could be losing out on several fronts.

    Hello jloor,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Backup Software.

Could you please clarify the full version name of Acronis True Image you use? You can find the full version name and build number by going to Help -> About... menu in the main program window.

    Thank you.
