I've had the same issue with MSN messenger 6.1, and the 0x81000370 error.

Since it started I haven't been able to get http://hotmail.com to work
    and
    nothing seems to solve it!!

Would you, by any chance, be on Win-XP?

Same problem here but fixed it . On IE try Tools -> Internet options -> Advanced, and under "Security" unchecked the box that says "Check for server certificate revocation" . It works for , even though don;t like the idea that the certificate of the server will not be checked ....aaahhh microsoft....

  4. i've tried your tips (and a few others) but still can't get the MSN Messenger working, any other idea? anyone? thanks

I can only guess it's a software bug, or your computer has a screw loose somewhere.
I don't use MSN messenger all the time, so I don't know what's causing your problem.

Check the date on your system clock. If it is wrong, it can cause the error you mention.

check to make sure IE can access the internet, if it cant, there's the problem, MSN uses the same connection settings as IE, so mess with the IE settings till IE works, then MSN messenger should work

Nice find Mr.Spear. I was thinking about this thread and at first glance....
that NetPassport thingie was quickly suspect.

That is one of the longest forum threads on one page I have ever,
and Marvin Miller is one generous poster. ~ eye's popping! ~
