Acronis true image managent console install on windows server 2003 sp1,

One windows agent install to windows 2003 sp2 server, and anthor agent install on redhat 4.0.

TIS version is V9.5 build 8,018.

I got this error message when i tried to connect to remote windows agent computer "Username or password is incorrect - Specify correct logon information for remote computer..."

i'm sure the username and passwd is correct ,and the user is administrator.

and im remove C:\Program Files\Common Files\Acronis\Agent\ag_fconnect.dll file, I've tried turning the firewalls and AntiVirus off ,the problem still not solution .

when i tried to connect to linux (redhat 4.0) agent, the error message:

    "Protocols were not found ."

i installed the agent and start up it, turn the firewall off, and the problem still was.

The attachments is my sysinfo information.

Pretty much the same issue here. Running Windows Server 2003 R2 Standard x64. I noticed that the Acronis Remote Agent service dies on this server as soon as I try to connect from the Manage Console. The System event log on the server with the agent shows an Event ID 7034 with a description of "The Acronis Remote Agent service terminated unexpectedly."

    Hello,

I have the exact same problem. Just downloaded the trial this past Friday and installed the MC on my laptop, running XP, and installed the agent on a test server, running W2K3 Server Enterprise Edition.

Everytime I try to connect to the server with the MC, I see the agent die on the server and the MC just says it needs a valid user ID and password.

I too have tried renaming the DLL file others have mentioned to no avail.

I'm sorry, but it just shouldn't be this difficult. I mean, isn't using the MC to remotely manage agents the whole point, as in, it's primary function, and it doesn't work properly?

I'm not mad, just disappointed. I have a very short time period in which to evaluate this software, and when it doesn't work properly from the get go, it leaves a rather sour taste in the mouth. I want to evaluate functionality, not spend time troubleshooting the basics.

For reference, I'm trying to evaluate Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server. As I said, I'm running W2K3 Server Enterprise Edition w/ SP2 in a domain. The MC is installed on my XPSP2 workstation. Both workstation and server are on the same subnet. I have full domain admin rights as well as local admin rights on both systems. The version of Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server is build 8018.

I have completely disabled the antivirus on both the workstation and server and checked that there was no firewall running on either system. I can remotely install the agent to the server and that works fine. But, like the other posters above, as soon as I try to connect, the agent dies and the MC reports bad username/password combo.

What frightens me is that this issue seems to date back to 2006, based on postings here in this forum and there doesn't seem to have been any clear answer in all this time.

I'll go ahead and submit a support request, since that seems to be the standard answer, but it would be nice, if there was a solution, to have it posted here in the forums for all to see instead of having to submit reports.

    Thanks,
    Tom

    Hello all,

Could you please do the following:

Open the registry browser, navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Acronis\Encryption\Server,

rename the "Server" folder to "Server1"

If the issue is not fixed then pleasesubmit a request for technical support. Attach all the collected files and information to your request along with the step-by-step description of the actions taken before the problem appears and the link to this thread. We will investigate the problem and try to provide you with a solution.

    Thank you

Perform this registry change on the Acronis MC or on the agent computer?

Ok I tried doing this on the Agent computer and rebooted and then I was able to connect from the Management console, thanks for the tip.

And if this registry key doesn't exist, what then? The only subkey I have under Acronis is, "Scheduler" and the installation claims to have completed properly. Have uninstalled and reinstalled it twice now, this is on a brand new Windows 2003 Server R2 x64 box. In addition, at least one of my working servers has the exact same setup in the registry (i.e. no subkey under Acronis other than scheduler) and works just fine.

    Hello,

I downloaded the trial, ran into the problem, and found this thread. Now here's my question -- how can I get an update when I have a trial and updates are for people who have registered their copy of True Image Echo Workstation?

    Hello,

The build number is listed as 8, 018. This is the trial version that was downloaded from Acronis's website on February 14, 2008.

February 22, 2008: I hate to be a bother, but the trial runs out in a week and I really would like to get this working so that I can get my boss to leave Symantec's dreaded LiveState application. Any updates?

Specify the computer & the userid/password that i use to login. Get "specify correct logon for for remote computer ... see admin about permisions or remote auth rules'. My build is the free download 8039. Turned off zone alarm on both machines no banana. Tried the change of server to server1 in the registry no banana. Now what? TIA

    Hello efiggy,

Please be aware that trial version of Acronis True Image Echo Workstation build 8039 (which has the specified issue fixed) was just recently loaded to our website. Please redownload and reinstall the trial version.

Regarding the trial duration: since the problem prevented you from fully using the trial duration, please submit a request to our Support team with the description of that, and we will provide you with an extended trial license.

    Thank you.

    Hello jtmedin,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Software.

Please be aware that the problem discussed in this thread is fixed in the build 8039 of both Acronis True Image Echo Workstation and Acronis True Image Echo Enterprise Server.

Please also be aware that the renaming of the registry folder was a temporarily workaround before the fix was available.

Please make sure your computers are set up as described in chapter 2.2 "Security parameters" of the respective User's Guide.

Please also check Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Local Security Policy and see if all necessary privileges are set.

    Thank you.

I don't know about Build 8039 but here is a news flash for you Marat, The problem exists in build 8076 - the latest build as of 4/08! I have a new installation, new server 2003 for management console, new workstations XP pro SP2 with all updates. My Dell D630 laptops will not connect after the agent is installed, whether ithe install was remote or from media on the local machine.

I expect to have problems with some technologies that is how I earn a living by resolving those problems for my clients. Here is the part that makes me mad, I have preimum support, paid for multiple TI Echo Enterprise server licenses, dozens of TI Echo workstation licenses, snap deploy, universal restore and Premium Support for all of it, thousands of dollars paid to Acronis. After several calls and emails to support the only thing the clueless front line support techs will do is run through a very short check list then send me an email requesting logs to escalate the issue. The promise is 2 hours turn around by the "expert team", don't you believe it. I have two cases open, have been waiting THREE DAYS and NO RESPONSE!! Acronis has hands down the worst paid support in the industry. I am an IT consultant, all I do is networks all day and I deal with support from dozens of vendors all over the world, Acronis support STINKS, period. I still don't see a fix for this problem here after 2 or 3 months - that is truly weak.

This product has brought a mass deployment to a standstill, Acronis is costing us a lot of money with no help in sight. Don't bet your business on Acronis!

Never mind. We figured it out ourselves and have no reason to waste any more time on Acronis Support. For the record, we never received ANY help from Acronis to resolve this issue.

Those of you out there considering this software should know that it does work to make images but you need to be comfortable with remote connectivity and using the application because Acronis Support will be of no help to you.

    Hey Tuxrules

How about letting us know what the problem was so we dont have to sit and wait for Acronis as I am having the same issue with the latest build. Works on some machines and not others.

    Thanks

Well, I find it amazing that Acronis themselves is too incompetent to resolve the issues that's been around for the past two years.
It's too bad that I really like their products but if it doesn't work for Windows 2003 it's useless and I was going to purchase licenses for 125 workstations plus 25 W2K3 server licenses. I'll be looking at different products, any idea? We've tried backupexec, don't care for it much...
