Hi BigQBoris, and welcome to Wilders.

Open HijackThis and rescan, then with ALL browsers and any open windows closed, place a check beside the following items and click *Fixed check:

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
    R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
    R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html
    R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = C:\WINDOWS\secure.html

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Reg32] C:\WINDOWS\reg32.exe

Then reboot your computer, find and delete the following file:
    C:\WINDOWS\reg32.exe

If you cannot find the above file, it may be hidden. To unhide All files and folders, see here for instructions: How to show hidden files & folders.

    ------

I am not finding anyformation on this file. Could you locate it in the Windows folder, right-click on the file and choose 'Properties', then post back what it says the file is for, etc.
    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wdskctl] C:\WINDOWS\wdskctl.exe

If it does not look familiar to you, then place a check beside it in HijackThis with the above items. Do not delete the file though until an Expert advises.

Please zip up a copy of the wdskctl.exe file and email it to Pieter_Arntz at the email address in his Profile. Thank you.

Then do another scan with HijackThis, and post a new log here in this thread so we can check it.

    Regards,

    snap

*edited to add: Boris, could you also include an url to this thread in the body of your email, so Pieter will find us here. Thanks

I did everything you said and it all worked out great. Thanks so much. The string O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wdskctl] C:\WINDOWS\wdskctl.exe
Is a IE plugin which i never installed so i fixed that also. Under the properties the description of it was a IEPluginDesktopToolbar MFC Application.

The annoying error screen kept poping up before i deleted it so I just went ahead and deleted it. But i still see it wondering around in my toolbar. But I ziped it up and kept a copy so you guys can study over it.

I will also send a copy to Pieter_Arntz.

Thank You so much I can now search the internet in peace. :)

    Hi Boris,

That is great that you can now use the search, but with hijackers it can be amazing how well they hide and sneak back in. Could you please do another scan with HijackThis so we can be sure nothing else pops up that shouldn't be.

Thank you very much for mailing Pieter the file...it may be something new and then he can submit it for detection.

    Regards,

Hi Boris, Thank you for post back your HJT log. It is clean. :)

You can find Pieter's email here in his profile: http://www.wilderssecurity.com/index.php?action=viewprofile;user=Pieter_Arntz

To help keep your system clean now, I would highly recommend you install these free programs. They will help prevent most spyware/browser hijackers from ever getting on your computer:

SpywareBlaster - will protect you from all spy/foistware in it's database by blocking installation of their ActiveX objects:
SpywareGuard - provides a degree of real-time protection against spyware that is a great addition to SpywareBlaster's protection method:
IE-Spyad - will put a list of those bad sites and domains (over 5000) in your IE's Restricted Zone. This will prevent those drive-by downloads, browser hijacking, ActiveX, Java, popups, cookies, etc, from compromising your computer while you surf:

    Then a li'l something to read: http://boards.cexx.org/viewtopic.php?t=957

    Best regards,

    snap
