    Hi

about eraser is better (more safe = program works without bugs) the full version or the portable?

i did notice that the portable versione is not able to use the shell integration even there is Erasext.dll (Eraser Shell Extension)

    even the command C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe Erasext.dll doesn't work

i like the portable version , i mean without installer

but is the portable safe like the full version ?
is there a way to use the shell integration with the portable version

    thanks

First, I am a BIG lover of portable apps. Much less intrusive in a system and if you want it gone, delete the folder and it's gone!

That said, some programs just work better installed. And IMO, Eraser is one of them. The right click integration is what makes the program truly useful. Without it, it's like all the other attempts (erasing programs)... usage is painful to say the least.

This all said, the right click integration that's part of the installed 5.8x version of Eraser is, IMO, garbage. They tried to patch it and it still doesn't work right. If you use Eraser 5.7, it works as advertised.

    ***NOTE***
I don't run Vista or Win 7 and have no idea how well Eraser 5.7 works with them. Use any version of Eraser beyond XP at your own risk!

I use glary utilities on 7, i installed it and i have shell integration (wipe selected items with glary utilities- it has also several options) but there is also portable version of it. I didn't try if portable has that feature, try this application i really like it much. Here is the link.

mantra, you can get Eraser Portable, courtesy of PortableApps.com, and according to that page, the system requirements are: 2000/XP/Vista/7.

    thank you so much

do you think there is a way to make the shell integration working

    Code:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\regsvr32.exe Erasext.dll
    should be enough

The standard version of Eraser 5.7 works fine on XP. I've installed it on several with good results.

I'm terribly sorry!!! I went brain dead or something. The link I listed was for Portable 5.8.7. Portable 5.7 isn't there. I have it on my flash drive but it's from a download from a while back.

I'll keep looking for it from a safe place. Again, I apologize! :(

FastCopy has the ability to secure delete as well as it's file copy ability. It only occupies 396kb of space on the hard drive. There is a setup file but it only sets the directory folder and makes a shortcut. Once you open the program go to (Option) then (Shell Extension) for context menu integration. Running the setup file again allows the folder to be deleted and the extension unregistered.

AxCrypt does have a installer but does have erasing ability as well as file encryption ability.

That said I also have Eraser 5.87 on Vista and have no problems with it. Actually I have all 3 installed.
