Energizer says the P18K Pop’s battery, which is around five times bigger than those found in most modern smartphones, allows users to continuously watch videos for two days, listen to 100 hours of music, or talk for 90 hours. It also provides 50 days of standby time.

Such a large battery means the P18K Pop is an absolute beast. At 18mm thick, it’s almost three times thicker than an iPhone—you’ll certainly feel this bulging in your pocket.

The bad news is that it's only available to pre-order on Indiegogo, something that Avenir Telecom mysteriously kept quiet when demoing the handset to us. The worst news of all (for them) is that Indiegogo's transparency means we can see exactly how many people have pre-ordered and, well, let's just say it makes the Nokia N-Gage look like a high watermark of public enthusiasm.

In total three (yes, that's ‘3') people have put their money where their slightly-agog mouths are and backed the product. That means that at the time of writing, the Energizer P18K has raised $2,725 of its $1.2 million target.
To be entirely fair to Avenir Telecom, one of the three backers had opted for the three pack, meaning that if things remain the same they will own over half the world's supply.
Perhaps that's the mystery buyer's master plan.

That's steep alright but I paid half that for Huawei's flagship Mate from Amazon when it came out with a 4,000mAh and after all these years it still takes almost a week before the thing runs low on juice. I would gladly accept the bulk for longer activity without a recharge.

With my current one I also can take along a power pack for times when no ready access is available for juicing up again. Like to keep mine above 50% at all times and usually do thanks to the bigger battery.

What just happened? Never mistake curiosity for a willingness to buy a product. That’s the lesson Energizer and Avenir Telecom may have learned after the massive Power Max P18K Pop, famous for its 18,000mAh battery, finished its Indiegogo campaign with $15,005 from just 11 backers—slightly short of the $1.2 million funding goal.

With so much interest around the phone, one might have expected it to become a crowdfunding hit.
Now the campaign is over and the final figure stands at $15,005, just 1 percent of its goal.
While a phone that can go days without charging is a compelling prospect, it seems the P18K’s massive size wasn’t as appealing.

This might not be the last we see of the P18K. Following the end of the campaign, Avenir Telecom wrote: “Although it didn’t reach its goal, we will work on further improvement on the P18K (design, thickness, etc.) as we do believe there is a rising interest for smartphones with incredible battery life, which can also be used as power banks.”
