Also over on MT Emsioft CEO made this comment about the state of the industry in general.
Concerning the site's banner comment, to me, the biggest take away - while obvious to many of us who have been in IT support for so many years - is this,
Sadly, there are still many who see and treat the "security landscape" as if it is the same today as it was back in XP days. It clearly is not.
Concerning the Malwaretips post, while I think there is some good marketing/PR spin in there (and in the banner comment), I believe the below is extremely significant and telling,

While many still refuse to accept it, Microsoft truly has stepped up and made Windows Defender a "very high level of quality" product. Now for sure, I do NOT want to see Microsoft push the other free products out of the market place. "We" (as in everyone everywhere - except the bad guys) need for there to be quality competition in this market sector AS WELL AS the high level of cooperation and sharing of information we enjoy today, necessary to continue to thwart our common enemy; the bad guys.
I'm not surprised.
Emsisoft is not the Emsisoft it used to be,
Since they started in 2021, gradually fired the original team,
And after that, old employees continued to leave,
As I know , evne the former costomer lead(manager) ,
working for Emsi more than 6 years ,
also resigned this year, leaving Emsi .
There must be something going wrong with this company.
And they keep breaking their promises,
Banned license of legitimate users for no reason,
(also banned my forum account without reason)
no longer pay attention to general customer needs or responses,
It can be expected that they are gradually abandoning the general consumer market.
And now , they even decided to close the forum directly ,
for those Emsisoft user ,
will no longer see how they deal with other users' problems,
there will no longer be other users participating and discussing problems together , or even the feedback or suggest .
I think it's very irresponsible,
but it looks like Emsi doesn't give a **** now .

Staff did not only no longer respond to requests, but not even visit the forum anymore...
Not surprised at all. I have a license for them that I picked up fairly recently, but this does not give one a warm and fuzzy feeling that is for sure.
They said clearly they will focus on business, so no chance for individuals. I’m glad I did not renew my license last year…
Sad but not surprising. There were little hints here and there about decreased traffic to the site, for at least the past year.
This was coinciding with Fabian Wosar's taking a leave of absence from pretty much everywhere (he still re-tweets some things so you know he's still around). I wish Emsi well, definitely.

As the NA distributor of Emsisoft, rest assure the way Emsisoft got big is through the development of home users who then would convince the later to use their software in their business.
Having sold Emsisoft for years now, allot of RUMORS have started recently with posts on Wilders etc...Just a FYi they are stronger then ever and we continue to stand by their great products and services!
Staff your taking messages that have been posted by someone posting under a EMsisoft Logo. Christian M made it very clear he is shutting down the chat to offer 1:1 chats for Support. NO OTHER AV/MALWARE company does and offers that service to their clients. If anything they are getting closer to the home users to help them with their needs. Its amazing how people twist the truth. As their NA Distributor apart from creating the Workspace and having a learning curve to learn it they have been phenomenal to deal with. It is a Honor and privilege to sell their product and services.
Kevin, I'm sure you can provide proof for your wild accusations here, can you? I'm happy to discuss the individual points with you.

I can assure you that in the almost 20 years since founding Emsisoft, I have never let go any full time employees for economic reasons only, which in itself is quite outstanding I like to believe. As in every business there is a certain level of coming and going but I'm sure this level is very low here compared to others. Other than the money and growth driven Silicon Valley companies, we look after our people and operate like a family. Over the years we also have supported many long time team members through various personal hardships, which was completely voluntary. That's what responsible and ethical employers do.
The only valid reasons to part ways with team members are:
A) when they look for new career opportunities and a change in life (several ex-Emsisoft staff started their own business after leaving),
B) when they can't commit to their role anymore for whatever reason (such as change of personal circumstances that prevent them from putting in the agreed hours),
C) when they significantly violate their work agreements (fraudsters, ongoing inexcusable behavior, ongoing missing work objectives, etc.).
Again, we never did any layoffs to optimize profits, and we're proud of that.

More than 50% of Emsisoft's current staff started working here 5 or more years ago.

Can you please send me details of that through PM so I can investigate? Or is this just a rumor?
We're legally not entitled to disable products that customers have paid for and I can't see any possible scenarios other than fraud or general country-wide sanctions that would lead to blocking licenses at all, to be honest. The only legitimate reason to invalidate licenses is when they're not paid (ie. customer requested a refund or triggered a chargeback after buying).

You have to break the forum rules quite severely and multiple times to get banned there. Again, here's my offer to investigate this particular case, but I'll need more details please.

Because when I had a problem before, when the customer service manager couldn't solve my problem,
There is no other way to appeal.
My apologies for this part of the Emsi employee departure,
I really don't know what's going on inside Emsi,
but from 2017~2021, as an Emsi customer,
I've had countless conversations with several very polite and nice customer service staff.
such as customer serve - GT500, Sales Manager - Thomas Ott, Customer Manager - David Biggar,
We've talked a lot about Emsi, from translation assistance to bug reporting,
However, I later found out that they all left and disappeared,
So that is why I have some guesses.
I had already saw your post on Malwaretips , and I had already send the private message to you ,
since I consider my private issues to be discussed in a public place, is not very good practice,
I hope we can continue to discuss follow-up questions through the PM function of Malwaretips,
I will provide all the evidence, screenshots, conversation transcripts, etc. I have kept ,
to prove what I am talking is not a rumor .

but after the CEO's own investigation,
Emsisoft apologize for what happened on me,
and offered me a nice compensation , and I am satisfied.
emsisoft is reducing costs and use other resources, which are cheaper or at no costs. if stuff is also reduced however this make sense. since covid there are a lot of changes in IT.
Way back when Emsisoft told XP users to take a hike, they pulled a Fonzie and jumped the shark so far as I was concerned. Just checked, and looks like they have done the same with Win 7:
...which is the last M$ rendition I'll ever consider using, so they can keep their fanboy love for the corporate malware-infested Win 10/11...and hopefully it will soon be time for them to take a hike. Fingers crossed!
Microsoft support for Windows 7 ended January 14, 2020. Almost 2.5 years ago.
Wow, not even Windows 8.1 which still is officially supported by MS.
Windows 8.1 officially reaches end of support by Microsoft on January 10, 2023. But given the extremely small number of users who haven't upgraded to Win10 (less than 2%), it wasn't worth holding our development back with legacy code support. Keep in mind that each new version of Windows introduced new security related features (and most importantly APIs) which also help security software makers to create stronger protection products.
Which is why we cut off the development for older systems last year in September. We still provide detection signatures updates for installations on older systems though, and will continue to do that unless external factors require us to end that. I.e. certificate invalidation through MS (as we had experienced in the past).

Would it be possible for customers to do a new installation of a previous/older version of an Emsisoft product on Windows 7, and have it receive detection signatures? For instance, a customer can still install an older version of Norton 360 on Windows Vista. Even though it doesn't get new features, all protections existing when that N360 version was created will continue to work on Vista.
There are more official users of Windows 8 than is been suggested with lunacy percentages as an only excuse.
No matter-Emsisoft doesn't have to support what they consider outdated systems with their wares anyway. Far better security products DO and WILL continue to enhance the users of those systems as well as 7.
Thanks for calling me lunatic. The percentage is based on our actual usage figures, which are the foundation for making such business decisions. So I guess my database that returned that figure must be lunatic too. ♂️
If any OS falls under 3% usage we always discuss how to end support for it. Like we did for the last almost 20 years. Please don't take that personally.

Windows 8 maybe, but not 8.1 by a long shot. Also you certainly misinterpreted what was a statement addressing the information source NOT YOU PERSONALLY. Just so you understand.
