With the popularity of this program on this website, we still do not have a dedicated post for Emsisoft. I believe we need one.

    From Emsisoft:
Emsisoft Anti-Malware is a premium malware scanner to clean and protect your PC from viruses, spyware, trojans, bots, adware and worms. It uses 2 major scan engines (Emsisoft's own one + BitDefender antivirus) to find more than 10 million different types of malicious software. Keep your PC clean with the included File Guard and Behavior Blocker features that effectively stop all new infections. The Surf Protection additionally blocks access to fraudulent and dangerous websites.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware was awarded as best in test of AV-Comparatives Real-World Protection tests and MRG-Effitas Realworld Tests. Many other independent tests since then like VB100 and MRG-Effitas best performer in all zero-day malware tests 2011, 2012 and 2013, confirm the world class level in virus detection.

The Emsisoft Anti-Malware realtime protection uses 3 layers to protect your PC against new infections:

    * The signature based scan by the dualengine catches known dangers immediately when they try to run or are being downloaded from web. New malware definitions (signatures) updates are available at least 24 times per day.

    * With the awarded unique behavior based malware detection, all running programs are monitored all the time. As soon as a program does something suspicious, it is stopped and alerted. Providing you the ability to interrupt unwanted actions. That provides extra security against new and unknown threats that others can't catch.

    * The surf protection prevents you from surfing to malware spreading and fraudulent websites.

Extras: Emsisoft Anti-Malware holds plenty of advanced options for experts to detect and delete malware manually.

Conclusion: Emsisoft Anti-Malware is a comprehensive tool to detect all types of Malware, Viruses and Spyware.

I'll start it off. After fighting it off for some time, the newest version is quite light and I love the web filter and behavior blocker. I decided to purchase. Still sitting on several years of Avira and Webroot :D

I'm with you 100%. I finally broke down and went for 2 years on EAM. I too am sitting on a few years of WSA and NOD32 as opposed to Avira but very similar. EAM has less system impact than I thought it would and it runs like a dream with WSA. It really is a terrific product.

What about also adding Emsisoft Internet Security to the title?

I have 688 days of EIS left and feel like it's the best suite I have ever used.

Below are a few changes that I have made to the settings. General settings and Fileguard would apply to EAM. Fabian had a list of settings that he uses to lessen impact. I will see if I can find them.

    Firewall Settings:
    Trustworthy programs
    Incoming - Ask
    Outgoing - Ask

    Unknown programs
    Incoming - Ask
    Outgoing - Ask

    General Settings:
    Unchecked 'Activate memory usage optimization'

    Fileguard Settings:
    Malware Detections - alert
    PUP Detections - alert

Charyb, will the EIS firewall allow you to set filtering to: "ASK" before any app connects to the internet, not once but every single time you open that app? I'm a tad on the paranoid side :cautious: and as unnecessary as that might be, I personally like that kind of control. I don't like apps phoning home unless it's a absolute necessity. Comodo allows me to do that among other things. Thanks!

I would also agree Emsisoft need a dedicated post...Not a fan of the new version but for detection this Antivirus rocks.

I was unable to find that by manually going back through the pages, as well as doing a search in here and the "anti-malware" forum.

Either way, that post is dedicated to version 9. Quite a few products on here have dedicated posts for the entire program, version independent.

I would do this, but I am not able too. I think it is a good idea, but a moderator would have to edit the title. Thanks

After moaning and complaining for quite some time about system impact, the newest version seems to be a big improvement. I have not looked at the memory usage, but I really don't care, as I have 32GB on this pc. It is running on two others that have 16GB and 8GB, and you cannot tell it is on there either.

It won't replace Avira on the machines already running it, but I did replace Avira with Emsisoft on my main PC. The same as Avira, I cannot tell it is there. I really like how it prompts when websites are trying to make connections to known bad websites though, I get these quite often on a few "sketchy" websites that I go to, and have never seen an alert before on multiple different AV.

This thread is a good idea. Emsisoft runs very well for me on multiple computers, even alongside WSA or Malwarebytes. Very satisfied with it.

I am curious about the threads, but I assume a moderator would have to answer this question. Why is Emsisoft always moved to "Other Anti Malware Software" section? It is technically an anti virus software first, even though it has anti malware in it's name. (They do explain why they chose that name.) They are definitely one of the better anti virus software available currently. (Hopefully they continue to stay on top.) Thanks.

I have not used Emsisoft for awhile, but I recently had a bad trojan attack (some sort of hacking malware with injector or dropper) on one of my computers and the Emsisoft Emergency Kit went a long way towards stabilizing the system and defeating the attack. So it's obviously solid.

    My standard removal tool rotation is;

    0) Chicalogic (MBam 1.75x)
    1) Combofix (if not on 8.1 or 10)
    2) Emsisoft Emergency Kit
    3) Norton Power Eraser
    4) ADWCleaner
    5) Junk Removal Tool (JRT)

If I am worried, I will run a full scan with HerdProtect, and do a manual investigation of the entire system. I consider EEK one of the best tools. We haven't added Bit Defender Adware Remover to our rotation yet, as it hasn't proved effective in testing at this point. We used to use SAS, not anymore.

No, not that I am aware of. This would be a nice feature.

Yes you can. Go into the protection tap, select the process you want to ask, change the rule to custom, and then edit the rule. In their you can select block, allow, and ask.

Have you tried it? It may work for you but it does not work for me. Yes, ask is located under custom rules but it doesn't do what you think it would do.

When I set it to ask, then receive a firewall notification, I am presented with the same four options, allow connection, allow all connections, block connection and block all connections. When I select allow connection then the custom rule is changed from ask to allow. Makes absolutely no sense why ask is even there.

Been running EAM since like 2009 i believe.
Initially i used promo licenses and when they expired i often used alternatives until i got another promo license. Hahahaha
Eventually purchased a couple licenses in 2012 and have been using paid since then.
