    I highly doubt that.
I can get Emsisoft products for cheap prices.
Do you mind explaining a bit more?

    Absolutely.

:thumb:, so many competitors uses BD engine and provides free protection now (Roboscan, Naver, ZenOK...). I'd like to pay for Mamutu + Roboscan free edition instead of $40/year for same/lower protection

It isnt the same protection , Emsisoft in house engine makes a great difference.

Bitdefender engine is powerful , but i love Ikarus , I hope this will be a change for the better.

Because relying on deals for a poduct is always valid and counts as the same thing as consumer asking price. Not knowing that 90& of people won't look for deals and pay the normal cosumer price. BullGuard had a deal at $9,99 the other week, would it be valid to claim a discount price in logical review then to just claim EAM is cheaper because of deals and no other product using the BD engine has deals or even better deals then you get for EAM.

Don't forget that Emsisoft have regional prices on products. Depending on where are you from you are paying less by design and it's not form of time-limited promo:
    EAM_price.png

Above that EAM incorporates 2 separate scanning engines and 3 guards.
Because of those two reasons it's sometimes very interesting choice for people from around the world.

Ikarus might be a good engine but it had it's FP problems, occasional whole database downloads and high resource usage after update.

As for v7: one thing that I noticed right away is that disk scans of EAM allows now fairly normal work and doesn't seem to slow my PC. Also, cache seems to be working better since I see decrease in time of my daily scans.

Another thing is that, Ikarus while known to security enthusiast might be not so recognizable as BitDefender. I think having reputable engine with good public reception is - marketing wise - something that shouldn't be considered as bad.

    Hello,

    Ikarus is a BIG FPs.
This AV detect every files as malicious.

I think after Ikarus, DrWeb has very FPs too.

If Emsisoft want move to forward and get Major awards in tests, Ikarus was a Major obstacle.
Please remember that the VB100 test was how FPs by Ikarus.

In addition, If you are correct thus, Bitdefender sales become very low Because many AV vendors use of Bitdefender engine that some of them are Free!

and Emsisoft engine is one of the best AV engines.

We have a proverb in Iran:
Much money = eating much soup!
    higher quality = more money
Emsisoft is excellent and It should be more expensive

    @ Barthez, Thank You

Fortunately EAM has no firewall ;-)

AV signatures (esp. the second engine) are only one part of EAM. They have a own engine, own detection mechanisms, a great BB etc. Sorry I can't see such things in BullGuard or Roboscan. But everbody is free to use what he/she wants.
When people complained about EAM some of the most arguments were: Slow in some cases, FPs, large Updates (esp. after a few days offline). All that are Ikarus issues.

When you look at large signature AV tests Bitdefender-engine products are always top/near top. Seems to be a good engine, or?

But after all: Let's see how EAM7 will perform in real life scenarios.

I will not miss Ikarus, it was a very good engine but also had many drawbacks.
False positives, large updates, slow updates :D
*Bitdefender engine has faster updates (Updates are lot faster than before)
*More efficient signature database build (Ikarus used LOTS of resources when it was building the DB after an update, it always made my laptop unusable until it finished the update)
    *Almost no false positives
    *Great detection like Ikarus

  13. Emsisoft Internet Security pack is $25 over @ malwaretips, not sure why people are complaining about the price.

I'm all for the BD engine, better detection rates = better product in EAM

Roboscan better than EAM...last time i installed it:

ultra-low update (must restart it 2-3 times), slow scan , slow removal, useless FW...

If you are smart enough, you can have EAM for free for a long time.

    Please do not compare :D

EAM Technology is highly advanced and will not deactivated against malicious easily! but Roboscan can be deactivated easily.

to our test, roboscan can not scan archive files carefully, sometimes has update problems, their updates has delayed, poor behavior and...

We discussed here only to replace Bitdefender!
what We're not talking about V7?
Bitdefender is one of the best single-engine AV, While the Ikarus has not any place on top!

Emsisoft Technology is one of the best and most reliable engine in security!
But Here we have only to look at the second engine! I do not know the reason!

Are you using Emsisoft for second engine?

attention for the second engine is more than Emsisoft engine, while Emsisoft engine is much more efficient.

still has the file C:\Program Files (x86)\Emsisoft Anti-Malware\t3.dll
    t3.dll IKARUS engin.
and C:\Program Files (x86)\Emsisoft Anti-Malware\Signatures\t3sigs.vdb IKARUS database size over 92MB

probably because it was in circulation and 6.6 versions and version 7

Is there an installer for the beta or do you have to have EAM 6.6 already installed?
