Can't believe it, so Biden will save Musk from this horrible deal. I recently saw a documentary about Elon Musk and while you need to respect him, I doubt he's the genius that he's made out to be, he's more of very decent businessman, but quite a boring one. Whenever he starts talking I fall asleep. But anyway, this will probably mean that Tesla's stock will go up again since he doesn't need to raise another $5 to 10 billion for the Twitter takeover.

This is pretty harsh, but this would also mean that perhaps many of these positions were so called BS jobs?

Like I've said before, I'll believe this purchase will happen after it is done. As for the layoffs, I bet most multi-billion dollar companies could layoff 75% of the staff and never miss them. Especially any vice-presidents.

Well, harsh for the employees. Microsoft just laid off almost 1000 employees a few days ago. This follows another mass layoff in July. Maybe Micro sees writing on the wall we regular people don't (which can be a good thing). Two tech companies jettisoning excess baggage, in their eyes.

But then we would have serious problems in the economy, or perhaps they should hand out free money via a basic income. But yes, over here in Amsterdam there are 2 major banks and I always wonder what the heck all of those employees are needed for LOL?

Yes, but M$ has 200.000 employees so this is nothing. The thing is, the reason why you are seeing so many people get laid off is because companies need to keep their profits at a certain level because of the stockmarket. It's crazy when you think of this.

True, but there is probably an executive or 2 at the top that makes as much as these 1,000 at the bottom combined. If they really want to save some money...

It may not have -- Have not seen any other news source carrying the story, but TMZ within it's lane is considered to be reliable.

"Elon Musk closes Twitter deal and fires top executives

Musk’s $44 billion deal to acquire the social media company closed on Thursday night.

As one of his first moves, he fired several top Twitter executives...

CEO Parag Agrawal, chief financial officer Ned Segal, and Vijaya Gadde, head of legal policy, trust, and safety, were let go...Sean Edgett, the company’s general counsel, was also pushed out...The top executives were hastily booted from the company’s San Francisco headquarters..."

Nothing unusual in the acquisition of a company. Top managers leave first and new ones are appointed by the owner. In the case of Twitter, this is more than welcome because it needs some fresh air. It's been a stinky fish for a long time.

I'm sure everyone thinks that but it won't happen that way. It can't.

Instead of this Twitter nonsense, Musk should be focusing on this:

One thing you can't deny Elon, he is always different and does things differently than the rest of the world. I hate electromobility but I love him for this approach of his, just like I had Jobs.

i think different. he gave starlink for free to the ukraine, but as he found out that the military uses it and the usa military has also benefit he asked for money. tesla is not the money making product as he wants to sell us. it may work, but it could be the biggest pyramid system in the world. on the other hand the world need people like him, investigating (a lot of) money into different things to see whats really behind. if it works - sell the product. like SpaceX. not to forget his (their) foundation
    https://www.influencewatch.org/non-profit/musk-foundation/
(may has also pros and cons)

i see musk and twitter like bezos and the WP. not only a gadget.
