There is a lot of interest in electromagnetic eminations. Wheter protecting yourself from EMF that may have humanly harmful effects or RF eaves dropping, copper mesh has long been the material of choice for EMF shielding.
Since copper is a comodity, its cost varies depending on market price. In the recent past copper prices have skyrocketed so much it caused a slow in new home building markets and copper theft became a real concern because the price of copper had risen so much.
If you are interested in RF shielding for whatever reason there are other alternatives to copper. One area is electromagnetic shielding paints. Some paints protect up to 18ghz, some are water based reducing VOCs and simplify thinning. Whether you are concerned or paranoid there is a financially stable solution in electromagnetic paints.

I am confused. What type of electromagnetic field would be penetrating one's house?

    All of them.
They didn't ask your permission if they could come in, nor did they let you know when and where they were going.
Are you going to just allow the Ee-ems to treat you like that?

Unless your house is built deep enough underground to avoid the majority of them. Even then your not free from the electromagnetic spectrum.

I'm perplexed, Searching, my friend. What do electromagnetic emanations have to do with privacy? Is someone forcing them on us?

    Regards,
    Scotcov

Wouldn't that be cool if you could make them all multicolored and luminous like that and then drop some good acid.....and maybe whip out a Gong CD?

I have a nice tinfoil hat to match my electromagnetic shielding pants (as seen on TV).

I have read some more recent reports that it is a good idea to shield yourself from the radiation from cell phones.

What about the good old inverted square? I suppose an em spy would be compelled to place some device in the close proximity of your computer to record, boost and transmit signals. Any physicist around?

You're right. You should use sheet steel from before 16 july 1945 and the hat has to be a perfect tetrahedron.
