Electrical failure cuts power to all of Argentina and Uruguay

A massive electrical failure has left all of Argentina and Uruguay without power, according to a major Argentine electricity provider.

Reports said the power cut had also affected parts of Brazil and Paraguay.

It came as people in parts of Argentina were preparing to go to the polls for local elections.

Hmmm. Maybe intentional, to reduce turnout? Or , maybe to increase it, because people wouldn't be working, surfing trash, watching TV, etc.

South America power cut: Argentina investigates 'unprecedented' outage

President Mauricio Macri called the outage "unprecedented", promising a thorough inquiry.
The disruption hit public transport while hospitals were forced to run on generators. Power had largely been restored by the end of the day.

Energy Minister Gustavo Lopetegui said it was unlikely that a cyber-attack was responsible, and that it would take 10-15 days for the results of the investigation to be published.
