I've been seeing more and more about Disconnect. They seem to be doing good stuff. But I can't help wondering who they are. And who is funding them.

I hope that new standard will be more accepted and honored but I doubt it. They also don't mention if browsers will support it.

I love the EFF but they are solving a problem that didnt need solving.
The problem was not the framework but rather advertisers ignoring the standard because there is too much money at stake. Gotta love there justification for ignoring it "People are too dumb to understand what DNT means"

Honor is not a word that comes to mind in respect of internet marketing.
I did wonder, if you set DNT and could subsequently prove that an advertiser had ignored that, whether that could form the basis for legal action? Obviously is no technical barrier and will otherwise be ignored. Clearly the proof and standing and jurisdiction issues are all stacked against the poor consumer.

This was also my understanding. The intentions are good, but in reality it won't work. But at least we can still rely on tracking blockers like Ghostery.
