Edge Deflector, the tool that redirects Edge requests to your favorite browser, works on Windows 11 as well September 8, 2021 https://www.ghacks.net/2021/09/08/e...favorite-browser-works-on-windows-11-as-well/ EdgeDeflector Website Download (https://github.com/da2x/EdgeDeflector/releases/latest/download/EdgeDeflector_install.exe)
It seems to be more complicated especially on Windows 11, but Mozilla and now Brave found a solution: https://www.ghacks.net/2021/09/13/m...osoft-edges-default-browser-setting-behavior/ https://www.ghacks.net/2021/09/29/b...he-true-default-browser-on-windows-10-and-11/
Windows 11: Microsoft enforces Edge browser in several protocols, bricks EdgeDeflector November 12, 2021 https://borncity.com/win/2021/11/12/windows-11-microsoft-erzwingt-edge-browser-in-protokollen/
Someone has released a fix: https://github.com/rcmaehl/MSEdgeRedirect/releases/tag/0.2.0.0 Haven't tried it out myself. But: This is not a very elegant tool compared to the other solutions. This one checks your running processes every 250ms and if it finds an edge process it runs it through microsoft-edge://, it kills it and starts your own browser with the same parameters.
I might be more interested in using Edge if they didn't want me to use it so badly. The more they do things like this the more I avoid it.
Me too and it annoys me tremendously when I boot up and you get the blue screen asking you to "Use recommended settings" which you would not even know means change to Edge as default unless you pay attention to the second option where it says to not change my default browser. Not only do they try to hijack my settings they try to be sneaky about it.

Gpedit > Computer Config > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Cloud Content > and in the right pane turn all three policies to enabled. Mrk
Looks interesting. The last 2 say Enterprise and Education only. I('ll have to test it all out and see what happens.

Just another additional waste of movement. Simple enough just to install a choice alternative browser independently and run with it. Since ANY edge redirector has to attach to edge/registry (other file) to switch, Windows will pick up on that and do who knows what.
