EA's Origin may be glorified Spyware - Destructoid
Reminds me of Steam Hate DRM in any form especially like this.
something on this popped up a while back, it resulted in Origin/EA removing a paragraph refurring to scanning your computer for installed software - not that i beleive them but it ended in them removing that part of the EULA.
It looks like people are either really ticked off at game publishers in general or hackers are getting really freaking desperate: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2432...eves_crash_into_van_carrying_6000_copies.html
I understand the need for CD Keys but some of this DRM goes way beyond what is necessary. It is why I have become very selective with what games I buy and research what DRM they use before buying. Some of this you have to wonder what their motives are.
I hate this. I may give up on Battlefield 3 because of it. Thankfully, AppGuard has been listing a lot of blocking to Origin from ProgramData and other user areas. It's a shame you have to tolerate spyware in order to enjoy the latest video games. Thankfully again, certain upcoming EA published titles will not require Origin whatsoever (in egs. SWTOR)
