E-Gold, Still reliable?

A month or so E-Gold was indicted in the US for money laundering and had its assets frozen, although it is still possible to trade with them.

I was thinking about opening an account with them but now feel unsure, it takes time to get verified with an e-gold exchange and I don't want to waste my time doing that and then finding that e-gold closes down.

Maybe there are other alternative for anonymous payments but the main problem I see with alternative payments systems is that most companies into privacy have e-gold payments as a standard and nothing else, I see that those companies still have the e-gold logo on their pages.

There has also been rumours that E-gold accounts are now under FBI care, but not a single proof of that, and the internet is full of conspiracy theories.
