I frequently get duplicate hosts listed in the ERAC. One will be the hostname, the other is the hostname 00001. The latter will always be the one that has recently communicated, with the former being "stale".
What I have been doing is deleting the stale object, and renaming the 00001 host to the regular hostname. Not at the top of my fun things to do list. :)
Is there a way to prevent/minimize/better manage this?
    Thanks.

Usual cause is because the default RAS config makes each system reporting in with its own unique MAC address have its own entry (someone going from a wireless to a wired connection). Changing the RAS advanced settings to allow MAC address changes will normally clear it up for you.

Happen here all the time. I just delete both entries. After 5 minutes (our schedule) the client contacts the ERAS again and creates a single, correct entry.
