What's the most important thing about search engine queries? The answer is, that they be relevant and accurate, right. Therefore, you may like this review of DuckDuckGo (DDG) search engine, including interface look & feel, customization, settings, privacy options, HTTPS mode, perks, and more. But most importantly, you get the quality of service you expect. Perhaps this will be your new default search engine?

    Cheers,
    Mrk

I have been using Start Page for some time now but the performance isn't all that great but they have a nice proxy service to connect to sites. Sadly people use the word 'google' instead of using the word search. The branding, marketing and bullying has worked for them so far. Great work MRK, you always keep us informed.

DuckDuckGo is grrreat! I switched to Ducky a few months ago. The Duck is faster than Google, doesn't mess with your privacy, is NOT all trashed up with ads, & disdains paid-for top listings. I even have one of their tee-shirts.

    HIGHLY recommended!

I've taken DuckDuckGo for a quick spin on some of my last 6 months most difficult to find search queries and I have to say the results are outstanding. Results that are buried on the 3rd, 4th, 5th etc page on Google are top of the list on DDG. Very very impressive indeed.

Tried it about two months ago when I wanted to ditch Clusty/Yippy. I liked it but for some reason, IE was a constant 45 percent CPU when search results page was loaded. I settled on another search site, Ixquick. Seems to do OK but would have rather went with the Duck.

I may have another look at the duck. I am quite impressed with Start Page/Ixquick. How many variants of this engine are there?

I'm going to change from ixquick to duckduckgo since Ixquick offers less search results. :D

Now that one works well for me.
I've never been able to get any of these variants to render properly. The home page looks fine but the search results page doesn't. Maybe it's normal like this?? I can use the Ixquick https search and the results look fine. The picture is results from your link

    Like a lot DuckDuckGo,

Here is a very good explanation of the privacy issues(explained by DDG):

Seems pretty cool. Just tried it at work and it was blocked as a security risk. I'm going to follow up with our vendor to find out why.

Thanks for that link, I thought it was cleverly & succinctly put. I'm using DDG as my default at the moment as a bit of a trial. I'm impressed. I keep wanting to slap the beak off that silly looking duck though LOL!

I found Duck Duck Go since last year and quite happy with it.Unfortunately, there are some rogueware sites provided by DDG occassionally. You have to report the rogueware sites to their forum and they will remove the links as soos as possible.
