i got the same problem: im using a internal mirror (share) and the internet update,

the first profile is the mirror, and the 2nd the internet update.

when i stop sharing my mirror, i think the internet update should have to take over (because when i use laptops they also cant find the share, if they are out of office.)

I agree, it should be automatic if the share/mirror is not available ESET should automatically default to the internet update profile, but for me it doesn't either.

In a post on this same subject Marcos stated that user needs to select the "Internet Update" task, I don't know about you most end users will never do this.

I need to find a way to make this automatic.

Found my issue, I was testing by forcing an update now, the article is a scheduled task every 60 minutes so a forced update does not enact the scheduled task.

    All is well.

    Thank you,
    Brian

Ow, so you mean that if i push update now it doesnt enact a scheduled, so if i throw out the mirror, and let it off for lets say 1 day, it will update via the other profile.

A cleaner way to explain, if the laptop leaves the LAN/Office/Mirror and is on their home internet or any connection for that matter, the 60 minute update interval will fail to reach the mirror automatically triggering the task to update from ESET directly.
