Why doesn't dr web start getting beta testers for version 5, or do they already? I think it's time to show off their baby to the world, but good to see they are adding alot of sigs.:D

well here is what i think,

drweb usually have an on-going beta of some kind,

i think (dont know) that 4.44 will be released between now and 2 weeks or so, so middle of july release.

i then think, maybe august will bring v5 beta, and it will release before christmas time.

but i dont like this way really, because as soon as 4.44 releases, very soon after that v5 beta will be, so then i wonder why i have a licence as i tend to always be using betas with drweb, which are of course.... free to use.

it is nice to see the progress of signature adding with drweb, put they need to keep it pushing forward or stabilising the amount, going backwards is not what i want to see in the coming months.

    it is,

    there is Cure it (4.33)
    and
there is Cure it Beta (4.44)

both are available on the official website

at least if you get it from the official website, you know its legit in every way, :)

better to be safe now, than sorry later *lol*

    something like that

    ------------
anyway to get back OT, what do you think of the increasing numbers of signatures for drweb, as mentioned in the original post?

Majorgeeks often uploads newer versions before the official vendor's site is updated. It seems that it's not the case with DrWeb.
Majorgeeks never (YMMV) has uploaded crappy/dodgy/tampered files, but you're right, it's better to download from the official website.
I'd say something like (sport jargon): "They're back in the game now". Very impressive and congratulations to the DrWeb team

    Hi everyone,
i just ran the quickscan of drweb cure it beta.
looks nicer than the 4.3 version.
it flagged a part of sony's sonicstage as a virus.
    see attached.
dont worry i have already emailed drweb
soon i will see how good they are at fixing fp's

Would be of interest to find out whether the majority of these signatures are for new malware or simply signatures added for the missed samples from the past tests of av-comparatives/av-test.org.
