    This was a very well-known UK AV Company, headed by Dr Alan Solomon who was one of the pioneers of the AV Industry.

    McAfee acquired Dr Solomons in 1998;

    but not before some usual bully boy tactics were employed.

    The hybrid AV produced was McAfee's VirusScan 4.0, which combined Dr Solomon's virus engine with the VirusScan GUI.

    Dr Solomon's Homeguard was the first Home AV I used, many years ago and the product line is still available to-day; http://www.drsolomon.com/

    Very interesting link,Tap on Avast's history ;)
