    MY AUTOMATIC SCANNING IN NORTON HAS BEEN DISABLED BY A TROJAN KNOWN AS DOWNLOAD.TROJAN.


    I'M A NEWBIE SO ANY ADVICE YOU CAN GIVE ME ON HOW TO TACKLE THIS PROBLEM WILL BE APPRECIATED

    Hello Lou, welcome!
    How did you locate the trojan if Norton was down? Other scanner?
    Do you have TDS installed? (since you post in the TDS forum)
    If you have make sufre you update it and do a full system scan, if you have not first get the evaluation version of TDS from the website www.diamondcs.com.au and after install and reboot go back to the site to get the latest update and do the full system scan then.
    Other ideas:
    Did Norton or other scanner also tell you which file is the malware? Can you find it and where is it located at the moment?
    There are so many download.trojans, so it would be good to know which version it is and which windows version you use.

    You might want to post a Hijack This log, or ASViewer. You can email gavin@diamondcs.com.au for help on this, but didn't Norton AV quarantine the trojan if it can detect it ?

    Maybe TDS is the one that detected it? Would explain why he posted his problem in this forum...
