    Hi

I have a full licensed version of Prevx 3.0.5.50 and was wondering, does prevx scan files that are downloaded from the internet directly to an external hard drive?

    Thanks

    Uli

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. How about this, does it scan files on an external hard drive as they execute?

    Thanks

    Uli

Prevx will scan files on any code as it executes - including executables, DLLs, drivers, 16bit programs, etc. from any local drive, external drive, or network resource.

Prevx analyzes programs as they write or read to/from the disk, but it does not explicitly scan files as they're written as they are not dangerous at that point.

Thanks for the reply, that clears things up. Prevx is all I use for security (that and a firewall) so it's real peace of mind to understand better how it works.

    Thanks again

What about files that come from the web and execute in memory without being written to the hdd first

Prevx protects against these as well - you'd generally see a warning about the browser process itself in that case if it is a truly web-based threat.
