    OK! Check this out!
I go to: SpywareGuard -> Status -> SpywareGuard Components -> Download Protection and it has a green checkmark next to it (it is enabled), BUT after a period of time when i check again its status it has not a green checkmark but a red X (it is disabled). It happens without my intervention!
Every time when i check its status and it has not a green checkmark but a red X i go to Options > General and ticked the box marked Enable Download Protection then click on Save Settings! Though, sometimes the green checkmark of Status -> SpywareGuard Components -> Download Protection disappear.
And I have clicked on Download Protection beneath the General tab, I have the box Alert and Prompt for Action ticked (and click on Save Settings)!

Moreover the activity log of SpywareGuard is empty. Is it mean that SG dont do anything?
What do you think of that!?

    Yours truly, Tiluid!

With all protection enabled....if you attempt to change your Home page....does Spywareguard display a pop-up ?

Also....we are talking about Internet Explorer as your browser ?

Thanks for the reply, bubba! :)
My browser is IE, but i think to change it with Mozilla FireFox...
So, yes, with all protection enabled when i tried to change my Homepage, SpywareGuard displayed a pop-up!

Kewl....that means portions of the program is working. As for the other anomoly(green check mark unchecking)....I'm afraid I have never heard of that one.

I remembered seeing this problem quite a while ago, did some hunting and came up with this somewhat ancient thread,

    https://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=14366.

Don't know if it still applies.

Do u run a Download Manager?

This could be part of the problem.

    Hope this helps.

I looked through it but the problem is not solved even there...
The question "Why Download Protection of SpywareGuard is unchecking itself?" still stands!

    Yours truly, Tiluid!

    tiluid,

Since SpywareGuard(SG) stores the Download and Browser Highjack Protection string value settings in the below reg keys....I have a couple of questions.

    Download Protection reg entry:
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\SpywareGuard\Settings....DLAlert
    Browser Highjack Protection
    HKLM\SOFTWARE\SpywareGuard\Settings....BHOProt

    Questions:
    1)What operating system
2)If NT based(NT\2K\XP)....does this user have Admin rights
3)When you notice the change....is this after you have closed SG down or after a reboot of machine

Do i have to check for this reg key if it exists? I dont know where is the registry!
    My OS is Windows XP.
I dont know if i have Admin rights.
SG is opened with the win start up and is closed with the shut down.
I think the change is made after a reboot.

    Yours truly, Tiluid!

No....that was just added info on my part and there is no need for you to dig into the registry.

Unless a user has Admin rights or high enough rights....the change your trying to make will appear to take but is not actually written to the Local Machine reg entry.

    Is this your PC ?

    Yes, this is my PC!
I know very little about what registry is? It would be good to give me a link with explanations!

    Sincerely yours, Tiluid!
