I cant tell you how they work along each other in W8.1 but when I used both programs in W7 (for about a year), they got along well. Normally, I don't use both, LV programs and SBIE at the same time but whenever I have, I have never experienced issues.

Some (or all) of us running Sandboxie in Windows 8 with a lua are experiencing a random bsod the first time something is ran sandboxed after booting up. It also affects those with Windows 8.1. Tzuk's last 2 betas have included guesses/attempts to fix this issue.

Oh thanks. So time freeze by toolwiz is working fine then on 8.1? Does anyone know for sure.

Also how is 360is sandbox and internet security itself or latest comodo and its sandbox and VT? Are they working without problems? I want some sort of sandbox to run problem free.

@ taleblou, Latest TTF version 2.2.0.34 "fixed the issue which caused the error message in the Win8.1". Other than that I can't say more since I don't use Win 8.

Once you have SandboxIE (and if I was in your place) I wouldn't waste time to try others app. with a sandbox approach, like the others you want feedback (BTW, what's 'VT'?).

Are you meaning what has been reported among W8.1 tablet users: http://www.sandboxie.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=16768&start=15

Your OA might be the one causing you the problems. Get rid of it or the Sandboxie and you should be fine. Yesterday some person on Sandboxie forum started a thread 'Sandboxie freezes the computer'. At least he was able to provide the information that he was using OA in his message though the post title was misleading to say the least.

I certainly have no issues with SBIE on my limited user account. So that needed to be told here.

taleblou, most issues with Sandboxie are caused by conflicts. The SBIE message that most people using W8.1 get when something don't work right reflects exactly that. If you dont use many security applications and you are not using a tablet, the chances that SBIE 4.07.04 will work just fine in your W8.1 computer are about 100%.

well I am planning to use eset nod32 antivirus 7 and toolwiz timefreeze. So will these cause issues with sandboxie in win 8.1?

By the way I am right now in the process of updating to win 8.1 from 8.0 and its already over 2 hours and only 68% downloaded. lmao.

Anyway if sandboxie offers no conflict with those security apps above then I may use it.

What security softwares sandboxie has issues with in win 8.1? Thanks in advance for your reply.

Hi taleblou, I think ESET should be fine with Sandboxie. About a year ago there was a conflict but I believe that was taking care of, I haven't seen anyone with a Sandboxie problem that has anything to do with ESET lately. And ESET does not appear in the known conflicts with SBIE page.

You might have to allow Sandboxie somewhere in the HIP settings but that's probably all you have to do. If you like to use SBIE, you have to try it and see how it does in your W8.1. In my personal experience, Sandboxie is working very well in my XP and W7 and in friends W8 computers but W8.1 is newer, you know, all computers are different and you wont be able to know how good the software is gonna be in your PC unless you try it.

Whatever you decide to do, good luck.

Well guys I decided to go with eset nod32 and toolwiz timefreeze for now, until sandboxie is well tested and is proven to work issue free in 8.1.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

Sandboxie has many problems with Windows 8.1. I cannot even access documents or downloads from inside the sandbox. The start menu does not work either. I was running it on old hardware so that might be the problem. Windows 7 has none of these problems so I just downgraded.

No, It affects Windows 8 and 8.1 64bit users running with a limited user account. Admin users don't seem to be affected.

Oh I am truly feeling your pains, since I think you like Sandboxie.

It is tzuk told once when the SBIE 4 versions came out it will brake up with many (security) software.

My usage of OA is only about 3 months ago and it was clear to me that they can't coexist.

In my opinion firewall hips are a nuisance. They bring false security and unless it is a strong community hips, you will allow all anyways when you install software. They bring paranoia and if you are not some installer of software on you computer very often, like games and stuff. I am not. Doubt you will need that hips stuff. At the moment I would not install any software if it does not run inside the SBIE. OA is not such good firewall without its hips part, nor is Comodo too. Both for them are just my opinions. OA hips seemed great, just not for me.

Exception is I have installed my VPN connection outside SBIE. The drivers it asks to install and we can't be never really sure how safe it is to allow, but at some point we just have to trust. It is the same as installing AVs and stuff. With VPN providers the risk is definately greater as they are not such big companies.

Same time I don't have windows 8+, I thought the problems with W 8.1 running only Sandboxie and maybe some basic AV are solved.

Peace at you too fellow computer user :)

I think that's a good idea Jarmo. If I was using W8.1 and started experiencing problems, since SBIE is number 1 for me, I would use SBIE on its own for a while to see if all problems go away. Then after a few days, perhaps add a basic AV and go from there.

    Jarmo P,

Yes, I do like Sandboxie very much. I also enjoy running with a limited user account for the first time in Windows. I don't like having to choose between the two. That is why I'm putting up with the occasional BSOD.

From glancing over the BSOD bug threads the only commonality is Windows 8 64bit, Sandboxie and a LUA. I'm pretty sure I had a BSOD with OA uninstalled. I've had 2 different AV's installed. Early on I reinstalled my OS. I've done everything I can including running the last two betas. So far .04 is looking good but I've went as long as 1 1/2 months between BSOD's.

All I can do is hope Tzuk finds a fix or that one of us can trigger the BSOD on demand. Until then we are stuck.
