    Gentlemen:

Has the dust settled yet? IYHO's of course!

I have ZA Pro V7 with email and their AV turned off.

Does the ZA "vault" work? Or does it have problems?

    Regards

    Escalader

I would say no. There are many ways to rob identity/data: spoofing sites/certificates, keyloggers, etc.
Paranoid2000 may have a better answer to your question.

    Hi Escaleder,

    ~snipped~

Myvault works if you are sending the data on clear channels (no SSL) and on common ports monitored by ZA (web hhtp, mail pop, IM standard ports). It will allow your sensitive data to leave your PC if this data is encrypted or sent via non common ports (i.e. ports that are not used by default in the above mentioned vectors thus not monitored by ZA).

Myvault is not a panacea to secure your information, you still need a good AV/AS and some security related common sense.

    Cheers,
    Fax
EDIT: ZAPro with AV off? There is no AV in ZApro... you mean AS?

    Paranoid2000/lucas1985:

Is there any independent objective research on this subject? Anybody have non vendor based references one could read?

BitDefender V10 has a similar feature called Privacy Protection where you can enter SSN's etc. But I'm not any more sure of it's value than I am of ZA's.

Would leak tests confirm the value of "vaults" or "privacy features"?

ZA Pro did well on the recent list of results on the leak tests. Does that confirm that their vault feature is effective? Or not! as lucas1985 says.

I don't have a answer yet, maybe there is no answer?

Paranoid2000, can you shed light on this murky subject?
