    v3.0.621 XPpro

I seem to be losing the ability to write to a cd from within XP after installing v3.0 on my XP machines. When using XP's cd writing feature of right clicking on a file, choosing Send To CD-Rom, and then clicking on Write these files to CD, Windows says that there is no disc in the drive.

I can however burn discs using a 3rd party app such as Ashampoo Burning Studio

    Ideas?

    Hello,

Is the IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service set to Manual or Automatic?

If you start that service manually does that change things?

    Hi,

It is set to manual. I started the service, and tried it again. It still says that there is no disc in the drive.

    Thanks

My computer started that too, and without installing NOD32. I have to sometimes open the door and then shut the door again, even though there is a CD in there. I really think it's some sort of Microsoft issue. Since it has seemingly started of late, I am guessing that one of the "updates" from MS may have given rise to interference to this. It would not be the first time MS has put out a patch and then have to put out another patch to fix the previous bug.

If you have Ashampoo you really don't need Nero for burning CD. Your situation still needs attention, as changing to 3rd party burner is not the solution.
