Trial versions download both signature database updates as well as modules updates, if there are any new.

    but

    are you sure?
because i tried to download a old version (NOD32 AntiVirus 4.2.64 32bit)from filehippo

    updated ,it's still 4.2.64 and not v 4.2.71
    and it doesn't reboot
i guess it did download only the virus update

    thanks
    cheers

    Re: but

4.2.64 -> 4.2.71 is not available as a component update for anyone - trial or full users, it is a installation over-the-top upgrade to get from .64 to .71 (or push installation via remote administrator).

but if i install 4.2.64 and update it , will it have the same components of 4.2.71?

in short , if i have understood the difference is between the only install package

    Re: ty

There are fixes in .71 as listed here:

    http://www.eset.com/us/version-log/smart-security-nod32-antivirus

    ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4

    * Fix: Lockups on certain system configurations
    * Fix: Memory leaks when gui stays maximized for a longer period of time
    * Fix: Mail saved as Draft is scanned with antispam and eventually moved to the Junk folder in Windows Live Mail
    * Added: Button for adding applications to the list of applications excluded from content filtering
    * Added: Support for scanning SSL in Firefox 4
    * Added: Support for SAGETECH Enterprise Right Management
    * Added: Support for Cisco ASA WebSSL Smart Tunnel
    * Added: Support for Parallels Virtuoso

running .64 will NOT include those fixes.

    Re: and v5..

Yes, both v3 and v4 will continue to receive module updates (ie. archive module, adv. heuristics module, etc.). The modules are same for all versions except v2.

Those are program component updates, not modules. The PCU updates upgrade the client software to a newer version, but these kinds of update happen very rarely. Module updates are bundled with VSD updates.

Please distinguish between modules and program components

an example of module can be the "virus signature database", the "SysInspector module" or the "language localisation module"

an example of program component is the help file, the sysInspector program, or the kernel

    hope it helps

It's an obsolete KB article from 2009 related to v. 4.0 features. It was a mistake which I've amended now. It is the Update module that is responsible for both virus signature db, module and program (PCU) updates.
