I wish I had the same results with you as far as CCleaner, Auslogics, and Vit.
Unfortunately, all three gave me FPs; like what jv16 PT did.
    Different Setups/Systems react differently...;)

    RegEdit mainly and CCleaner alternatively.

Deleting a few registry entries won't improve performance. Member NGRhodes has explained why on this thread:

Hence, I generally don't recommend the use of them since the risk isn't worth the little benefits (if any).

That being said, some users will still insist on using one. If you really have to, I would say that CCleaner and Auslogics would be the among the "safest" across the board. If you're looking for a slightly aggressive one, jv16 (PowerTools Lite - the free version is sufficient) would be the 'safer' choice among many in the market.

Incidentally, this is somewhat reflected by this older but still 'interesting' test here (discounting possible bias factor) :

Comparison of 176 Registry Cleaner Products | Macecraft Software

For the purpose of this thread, I'm highlighting a few...

    CCleaner:
    - detects 'none' broken file references in 'Choke Test'
    - passed 'Fresh Windows Test'
    - failed to find Test Errors BUT passed 'File Reference Analysis Accuracy' (have no problems with false positives)
    - Not tested in 'Other Error Detection Comparison'
    - Not tested Boot Time After Scan in 'Software Left-Over Data Detection Comparison'
    - leaves registry data behind after uninstall

    Auslogics Registry Cleaner:
    - detects 'none' broken file references in 'Choke Test'
    - passed 'Fresh Windows Test'
    - failed to find Test Errors BUT passed 'File Reference Analysis Accuracy' (have no problems with false positives)
    - Not tested in 'Other Error Detection Comparison'
    - Not tested Boot Time After Scan in 'Software Left-Over Data Detection Comparison'
    - does not leave data behind after uninstall

    jv16 PowerTools Lite:
    - detects 'many' broken file references in 'Choke Test'
    - passed 'Fresh Windows Test'
    - managed to find Test Errors AND passed 'File Reference Analysis Accuracy' (have no problems with false positives)
    - scored 0 out of 4 in 'Other Error Detection Comparison'
    - Not tested Boot Time After Scan in 'Software Left-Over Data Detection Comparison'
    - does not leave data behind after uninstall

    Vit Registry Fix (Free Edition):
    - detects 'many' broken file references in 'Choke Test'
    - failed 'Fresh Windows Test'
    - managed to find Test Errors BUT failed 'File Reference Analysis Accuracy' (have problems with false positives)
    - scored 2 out of 4 in 'Other Error Detection Comparison'
    - improved Boot Time After Scan in 'Software Left-Over Data Detection Comparison'
    - leave files and registry data behind after uninstall

Here's where I'm going to differ from roger_m. I don't recommend Vit at all. Forget FP issue...it doesn't work with DEP on the last time I tried it.
