Well I just installed a clean image for one of my boxes and before putting in FF 3.6.12 I thought, should I just use the beta instead?

From what I've read it's now x64 support and the only addons I use at the moment are NoScript, Adblock Plus and Ghostery and they are all listed as working, so I figured maybe it's better to just use it?

    What do you think?

    THANKS

I guess only Minefield is the x64 support...

Wonder how Minefiled is coming along...

64bit trunk is basically ok, sluggish on start-up - takes as a few moments, a bit of a memory hog - 280 - 400 Mb, adobe flash 64bit works mostly, else it is stable and fast in browsing. same add-ons supported for the 32bit version due work on the 64bit version as well

Well I'm not seeing much of any difference at all, in fact it's just as slow to startup and browsing speeds are no different.

Let me tell you I'm not impressed at all! :(

If this is what it's going to be like when it goes final I'm going to look at Chrome based browsers. I'm really tired of using a slug...

    Back to beta
first startup is horribly slow but there is a smoothness in browsing..better than ff3

For me there wasn't smoothness in browsing...

Actually for me this beta wasn't good at all and 3x FF was much better and that's pretty pathetic...

Mozilla better pull a rabbit out of their hat if they want to keep a loyal customer base especially with the speed that Opera 11 is showing and all those Chromium based browsers...

    the startup was too horrible
    and some addons didnt work

dev seems to put in an effort as the pre b8 is gradually improving, slowly though

It's most likely caused by the 'feedback' add-on, you could disable it and try again.

i had already disabled it..that was the first thing i did when i installed ff4
the bugs will be ironed with fututre builds...till then back to ff3

I was quite impressed with beta 6, beta 7 seems a bit sluggish sometimes but seems to be working relatively well on my laptop. In fact, b6 only crashed once & b7 has yet to do that. The beta breaks less pages than the standard release for me as well.
