Do we need a separate apk online scanner like virustotal

    like virustotal, we can upload and scan files, all kinds of almost. So I wonder if a separate online scanner for apk (android apps) files is worthy or not.

    well, it is a question of me, and also some one prefer online file scanner.
    what about your guys opinion?

    Well, .apk is essentially just a compressed container. So, any online AV scanner that also looks inside archives should work. Then it's just a matter of inclusion of Android detection signatures in a desktop product...

    As far as i know VT also checks archives, so technically you can throw .apk to it and see. It should check the contents since they are basically ZIP files.

    Yes they scan, have been doing it for ages.
    You can submit files using the VT application running on an android device, or from windows just by submitting the .apk file.
