I have noticed that in SRWare Iron 'Under the Bonnet' ~ Options (Privacy), I have the ability to turn the DNS pre-fetching on or off. My knowledge of computers is limited & I am not that sure what this really is, even after reading this. o_O

Is there any real advantage to have this function activated?

    Are there security disadvantages?

What does anyone think about DNS pre-fetching? I would be interested in other people's opinions about this topic.

Well, it certainly makes browsing snappier. OTOH, you have DNS lookups for every link on every page that you view. What if there's a link to something really evil and nasty? Even so, using a good anonymity provider would probably protect you.

Using SRWare Iron I haven't really noticed any difference as it is lightning fast anyway. I'll have to spend more time comparing them I suppose.

    This is what concerns me.

    Anonymity Provider? Please explain...

If you search Wilders for "hierophant", you'll find more that you probably want that I've posted re privacy/anonymity providers.
