Adam Conrad has announced that the beta build of the upcoming Ubuntu 18.10 release, code-named "Cosmic Cuttlefish", is now ready for testing; this includes all the participating sub-projects - Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu Budgie, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu MATE, Ubuntu Studio and Xubuntu:
"The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the final beta release of the Ubuntu 18.10 Desktop, Server and Cloud products."
The release notes are short on details, but they list one known issue:
"Booting live images in order to install Ubuntu in VirtualBox can, for some flavours and on some versions of VirtualBox, fail to boot into the live session. The workaround for this is to enable 'nomodeset' via the initial boot menu."
