I am moving abroad for the year and I will be putting my Dell dimension into storeage.
I would like to take a laptop with me as a desktop replacement.
I am torn between two options:
    1) Dell inspiron XPS with 17 inch screen (Vista or Win XP Pro)
    2) AppleMac pro laptop with 17 inch screen.
I will mainly be using my system for word processing and surfing the net. However I have sadly become addicted to trialling Windows security apps.
If I purchased an Apple, I will be able to run various configurations of Windows using Parallels virtual machine. At the same time I would benefit from owning a new OS.
The Dell laptop would give me the advantage of being able to load FDISR etc.
If money is not an issue, can anyone advise on my dilemma!!!

Buy one of each for me, and I will report back with a very detailed response, and you can choose the one you want of the two, I promise ;)

But, If you want something that is pretty reliable and won't give you many headaches, I will go for the Mac.

    Cheers,

Thanks for your generous offer Alphalutra1....I think i'll give it a miss!
I am turning away from the Macbook as there seems to be issues with overheating. I have decided to ship my Dell Dimension 9150 and save a few bucks (money was an issue after all).
