Norton did well (gettig rare to see them participate in tests these days....). Norton need to clean up their user forums and provide some support there though - it looks terrible for them, just loads of users saying they are infected with ZeroAcess or something else. With test results like this though makes me wonder if all the Norton users are running with up to date sigs?

LMAO.... a little biased don't you think? For them to make the statement that "all paid-for antivirus solutions beat MSE"....w ho and what are they targeting? The test is a biased joke.

it's probably biased, the "beauty" of this reports is that they produce this kind of headlines for the general public.

If I remember well this kind of Dennis Tests are sponsored by Symantec and that's the reason why Norton is present and seems good:D

No, the reason why Norton is present and seems good is because they are present and are good.

    This test is unsponsored.

Agreed. It's an absolute joke :thumbd:

I'm so glad there exists true independent tests like av-c and av-test
    .

It's just been said this particular test was unsponsored, and to top it all, Symantec don't even favour as well. So that kind of prangs that theory.

AV-C and AV-Test are the only two trust-worthy organizations.

This should prove that the test is not as biased as people might think. If it were that biased, Symantec would not have allowed Dennis to publish these results.

LOTS of FUD from vendors on this thread that didn't do so well on this test.

I don't see anything "out of place" in this particular test that would make it biased. NIS has been strong in real time protection for a long while (it was one of the best in protection even in AV-C's tests last year and still does well in AV-Test), same with KIS and Bitdefender. If they really were controlled by Symantec, they wouldn't be publishing results where KIS beats NIS. The results of the rest of the products (MSE, McAfee, AVG, Trend and ESS) don't seem that much different from other tests either.

Yeah same here, MSE has scored bad in more tests before. They just made some conclusions that can lead to flashy headlines and IMO can't be made by by a test on a small scale like this. They should test more different products and over a longer period of time to make these conclusions more valid but the results themselves don't seem manipulated.

Being beaten at protection is nothing new in a Dennis Technology Labs test for Symantec. Trend Micro has even come joint first overall before.

Edit: Did not see post #19.

    I'm not referring to
    the AV-C Real World Test
    OR
the last AV-C File Detection Test.

I'm referring to old Dennis Technology Labs Tests
which placed TrendMicro on the top when other Testers did Not...
