So let's see: I am gonna use their ryzen config, the R14, the other configs are likely following, meaning if one config is overpriced likely the others will be too, although in rare cases there is stuff that is not overpriced and might be worth buying. But still probably not. So here we have the config i reached: https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/gam...rationid=cac713bf-a641-46c8-8a41-7fd6a91d5051 All I did was make the ssd 500gb and the memory 16 gb $1399 with a 1 year hardware warranty MEANWHILE, here i built a MUCH better build for same/less money: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/L7Tg8J I used one of the FASTEST ssds on the entire planet, the WD Blue SN550 NVMe 500gb which ranks 34th on the fastest ssd-s list https://ssd.userbenchmark.com/ (sort by Avg Bench) compare this to a random ssd u get with prebuilts Then we have 16gb CL16 3200mhz G.Skill Aegis a really nice brand and model, again compared to the random memory sticks u get with prebuilts (they are shaving off prices of course they are not going to use a quality one) And of course we have some shitty unranked random power supply ( https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list/ ) against Corsair TXM Gold 550W semi-modular PSU, it's one of the best PSUs in general (obviously not as good as the top ones) ranking in the A tier of the psu tier list. While alienware's psu is not modular at all, bronze certified (not gold), and only 450W. Not only that but its performance is likely around C-D tier. Assuming it's not a total disaster. Probably bottom of C / top of D tier. We have W11 Home edition (there is no W11 on pc part picker so i just used W10), the same cpu 5600X. And only thing left is to add the motherboard and case. But I don't understand much from either plus we don't know what motherboard they are using and we can see the case somewhat but still. You have nearly $400 left for the motherboard and case, plenty of money left to make much better motherboard and case than likely what the prebuilt gives u. We can use a mb as cheap as $60 and case as cheap as $35. Though those likely aren't better than what the prebuilt has to offer. Oh yeah I almost forgot the gpu. The gtx 1650 Super is 26% faster https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-1650S-Super-vs-AMD-Radeon-RX-5300/4058vsm1403546 than the RX 5300 (though there is another set of benchmarks in which it's 14% faster, so let's say it's 20% faster the avg of the two, small sample size produces variable results since the rx 5300 is only included in prebuilts so very few people that have benchmarked it). It also includes 4gb vram vs the 3 of the rx 5300 which is a huge difference for 1080p 60fps gaming. Difference between 6 and 8 is not that big, but between 3 and 4 is huge because 1080p uses 4gb vram easily. We also get some random junk mouse and kb and some wifi adapter which u can buy one for as little as $10. So for the same money we can build a much better system not to mention we will get 2-3 years of hardware warranty for each component instead of just 1, and for memory and psu u might even get 5-10 years warranty depending on the model. I know some psus have lifetime warranty or like 10 years. Oh yeah and that's not even mentioning that all these components are NOT on sale, or on a little sale. If u can find a huge sale u can buy it (much) cheaper. Oh yeah i forgot to mention the air cooler, but those are cheap too (<$50 for a midrange/good one, which is likely gonna be much better than the random cooler from the prebuilt) Yet another reason (more like 20 of them) why you should never buy a prebuilt. Well almost never, unless u hit the lottery with very cheap prices but they usually get bought out extremely fast.
If your main concern is value then true. Some people have the money and don't want to be bothered with the assembly or configuration and they want the warranty. I build my own desktops. I buy laptops. Even though there are laptop kits I wouldn't want to bother. Alienware makes a nice PC and the Alienware tax certainly isn't more than the Apple tax.
Well u also only get 1 year warranty UNLESS you pay even more money from your ***. Seriously ram gets 5 year warranty psu sometimes gets up to 10 years, while other components have 2-3 years, and with this prebuilt all you get is a 1 year warranty... (no accidental dmg too, that costs EVEN MORE MONEY, i once compeltely broke my gpu by spilling water on the top vent of my case and i got it replaced from the retail store contacting the manufacturer i paid 0 for extra warranty or stuff like that, ofc the replacement gpu ended up just dying on itself after like 1-2 years when it was out of warranty but i guess that's what u can expect, still better than having to buy another one cuz no accidental protection or warranty, ofc u can u just lie that it died by itself but that depends on how good u can lie and if u **** up even a little bit while there are 50 experts sitting there with microscopes inspecting every atom and molecule of the gpu u are gonna be in big trouble)
If you want 2 years warranty with accidental damage that jumps the price to $1,697.99 , if you want 3 years warranty with 3 years accidental damage that makes $1817.99 , AND YOU STILL LOSE OUT ON THE MEMORY AND PSU WARRANTY! And no it's not just about "value", the ssd the memory the gpu the motherboard and maybe even the case are gonna be MUCH better than what is offered here. U could say value if u could get it cheaper for like 10% maybe even 20% . But if i have an ssd that is twice as fast as yours, it's no longer 10% or 20% anymore is it? It's no longer about value is it? And i will get 2-3 years warranty of every component with memory 5 years and psu 5-10 years warranty while all you will get is a limited 1 year warranty (no accidental damage) on everything. Unless ofc you're gonna pay out of your *** for warranty (see the figures above). It's like, you are so deep down in mud you cannot even make the "but i love mud" argument cuz u will just drown from not being able to breathe from the amount of mud you are covered in.
I forgot to mention the power supply too, Corsair TXM 550W Gold is one of the best power supplies there (in the A tier) while this random *** supply u get is 450W Bronze, likely in the middle or bottom of C tier if you're lucky
