    Hi @ Wilders

Appreciate some help. on determining whether my Laptop can be upgraded from Windows 10 Home to Windows 11.

    Dell Inspiron 15 3576 Service Tag 51F01P2
    Intel Core i5-8250U Processor
    8gb Ram
    250 gb Solid state Drive

The nub of my problem is this:-

On the Windows update page there is a message that says this pc can be upgraded to Windows 11. In Support Assistant, an all singing all dancing Dell software for keeping the laptop update with Dell software and firmware, it says that the laptop is NOT compatible.

After looking online this appears to be the case i.e. it means that Dell has not tested this version of Inspiron 15 3576 with Windows 11 nor will it update any software, drivers etc .

So my question is? Can this Laptop actually be updated and what would be the consequences if it was updated?

    Thank you for your help

    Terry

Terry, it has a 8th generation CPU so that's OK. I'd image the SSD and attempt a Win11 24H2 update using a Rufus UFD.

two-cents I've made many more backup, than restores orver time, hence 'restore' can be a little rusty, before the itch to restore comes
    Prep for!

I recall, my old Dell displayed a similar message, no go for 11 <can't remeber> which, but an update, made old dell 11.

Nah, I've installed it on more outdated hardware then yours. Save the new laptop for Windows 12, or whatever is next..
