defragg backup?

    check my image i made on bacup drive says it needs defragging ..should you defragg image ? or just leave it as create image made it ...thanks

    Sounds like you have a lot of stuff on the backup drive and have deleted a bunch of stuff.

    Start Windows Explorer, right click the backup drive and choose Properties. Click the Tools tab then under Error Checking click Check Now. If the checks show no errors, the drive is good to defragment.

    Be prepared for a long defragment process because moving large backup files around takes a while. It's a good thing to do when you won't need the computer for a couple of hours.

    I installed a new hdd and split into two partitions. I then used D for backups only.
    It later showed that it required defragging. I removed the backup and it showed defragging was not necessary.
    The backup was then put back on and defragging was again recommended. It is obviosly a something about the backup. I now ignore the recommendation.
