I highly recommend DefenseWall. I have tried most of the free security software out there and I ended up with DW. I use it with Sandboxie and Panda Cloud. This setup has a slight learning curve but boy do I feel protected.

One of the few programs I tell people to install on their PC's :thumb:

Unlike alot of other software on the market, this plain works and easy to use.

I've got Defensewall for my own useage,it's never let me down, buy it,you wont regret it! Unless you have 64-bit,then well, tough luck for you :argh: LOL

Is it needed if you have Sandboxie ?
Also I notice, on their site, it says "
The DefenseWall Personal Firewall program license is Lifetime, however updates, email notifications and first-queue support expire after 1 year unless you renew (extend, prolongate) your license."
So, does this mean you have to pay again and again ?

No, the program will still work after the first year...but since Ilya works tirelessly in developing his program, I am sure you would want him to be recompensed for keeping ahead of the malware pushers/purveyors. After all, think of it as insurance...you renew that, yearly, for your car, house, etc. ;)

He can't work any harder than Tzuk, ( thats impossible):D
Sandboxie is a one off payment.( not trying to turn this into A v B.)
I realise this program is excellent, everything I've heard about it is good. However, I was really replying , to the fact that someone posted, saying they use DW and SB, I can't imagine this is necessary

Renewal fee for DW is only $12.95, which I feel is very reasonable considering the excellent support and frequent updates you receive.

Personally, I believe it is important to support dedicated
developers such as tzuk (sandboxie) and ilya (defensewall)
who are committed to helping the average joe truly enjoy
the experiences of the internet age without resorting to
bloated (and at times useless) software or scare tactics.
    My 2 cents.

Good Evening ! Just purchased Defensewall...is it compatible with Avast Pro A/V and Prevx 3.0 & Safe On Line. And pardon the obvious is it a Firewall or does it work in conjuction with your existing Firewall ? I thought reading info pertaining to the product that stated you need a firewall. Forgive my newbie observations. Sincerely...Securon

Its not necessary but I used both at the same time in the past and they
were very nice together. I am not using DW now but its a great program
and very easy to learn. I highly recommend it.

So what's the differences between Defensewall w/ firewall as opposed to Defensewall? Is the only difference the added firewall?

Also, in previous releases I had issues updating programs. Does this version of DW address that?

    The difference is very simple:

    1. PF edition blocks downloaders and botnet's agents from calling home.
    2. PF edition protects its trusted zone from being attacked outside the protected perimeter (untrusted zone).

Hi Ilya, First of all, thanks for this 60% offer.
Is it possible to use DW only as a firewall (if one has geswall to do the rest, for example).
    Thanks.

Good Morning ! I just installed Defensewall with Firewall...and noticed in Windows 7 Security Centre that Windows firewall is installed, shouldn't Defensewall register ? I would appreciate feedback. Sincerely...Securon

LoL. I didn't see that one coming. I do think DW's firewall was particularly sized for its mother app and can probably be seen as a nice little bonus expansion on dw's security side for it. Any ways, I also would like to hear Ilya's answer. He surely thought the other way around (there is a reg tweak to use only the HIPS part).

Now If he would think about building a firewall on its own, I am sure we'd have a bloody good chance to earn some very inovative project at the end... And this product would have to be x64 compatible! :D

(edited to correct my phrasing that sounded like if I was trying to make fun of soccerfan's legitime question and it was not my intend, sorry if you ever took it that way)

I'm not well versed on the subject but i have used DefenseWall for a few years now. Its my understanding that the DefenseWall firewall works differently than most firewalls and that the Windows 7 firewall does not need to be turned off. You can use Windows 7 firewall, or most other firewalls, with DefenseWall if you want.

Good Morning ! Thanks Chinook9 for your reply. Regardless Windows 7 firewall is much improved and Defensewall strikes me as being a superb supplement irregardless of it's Firewall capabilities. Sincerely...Securon

Nope, DW is strictly an anti-malware tool, not a firewall.

Nope, it shouldn't. Why? Simple- because DW and an anti-malware tool, not a firewall. It's not an anti-virus, not a firewall. There is no appropriate section within Windows Security Center for DefenseWall.
