    Hi,

I just bought Disk Director 10.0 Build 2160.

The first task I undertook was to resize my V (Vista) partition, extending it into unallocated space, from 48 to 70GB.

The V partition is the second on my 1st hard drive.

As soon as I committed the change, it blue screened.

Now after a reboot it is confused. Windows thinks it is still 48GB, but Disk Management says it is 70GB, but with a capacity of just 48GB.

A disk check says the file system is ok (thank God).

How do I fix this now?

Did you do the resize in Windows or from the DD CD? Usually, it's best to do procedures that require a reboot from the CD so Windows isn't running. It also lets you have control over all the steps instead of DD running on automatic (if something goes wrong, you don't know what part caused it).

If you boot to the DD CD and start DD, what does it say about the drive? Perhaps it just needs resized again since something got messed up the first time.

Another option may be to resize the partition using Disk Management.

In either case, I would recommend you have a current backup image of the drive before making partitioning changes.

I did the resize in Windows - I don't have DD on a CD. I did this kind of thing all the time with Partition Magic on Windows XP.

Can I cut a CD version of DD from the software and then boot from that?

You can use the Media Builder program to create the DD CD. It's accessible from the Start >> Programs >> Acronis... menu or from the Tools menu in DD.

I would recommend you include both the Full Mode and Safe Mode versions of DD on the CD.

    Hello all,

Thank you for choosing Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

Yes, MudCrab is absolutely correct: you should try to resize from CD version of our program. In most cases it helps.

In order to create a CD please follow: run Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0 -> Tools -> Create Bootable Rescue Media, and choose all available options to include.

Also, feel free to submit a request for technical support among with the serial number for the program and we will give you the ISO file for the program.

Detailed information about Acronis Disk Director product can be found in User's Guide.

    Thank you.
