    Hi,

I got the little golbefinder-problem, that I managed to fix with CWShredder. No more annoying popups, no more homepage redirects. But my Int. Expl. is now awfully slow, and crashes every 5 minutes. My processor seems to need all capacity for loading the simplest pages. Anybody any idea of how fixing this ?

    Tx !!

Just out of interest, were you using the new version 2 CWShredder from InterMute, or were you using the original Merijn version 1.59.1?

Also, have you used any other specialist tools for this problem?

I used the original Merijn version of cwshredder.

Furthermore, I used adaware and hijackthis, without success.

My browser is getting slower and slower and crashes an awful lot. I know some ppl had the same problem, so if anybody can tell me how he resolved this ?

The original CWShredder is known to be a 'safe' tool so I don't think that can be blamed. The new version is still not not fully tried, tested and trusted; so far as I'm aware at least.

With regard to HJT, did you use it to delete anything? It can cause a lot of problems if the wrong things get deleted - so if that happened I hope you have kept the backups HJT will have made.

What's the story here....CWS is gone?....Been sold and incorporated in some security suite payware somewhere?....So no updates for us now on the old 1.59.1?.......How long before 1.59.1 becomes obsolete?

For what its worth, as a complete tyro...
I have used CWS 2.0 without problems.
I wouldn't know if its doing its job, but the app ran fine.
I dont know Merjin but from what I've read I hope he would not sell out to a crap company and suffer susequent "web thrashing".

Cant be sure what will happen in the future to CWS, better grab it while still good.

I've downloaded the zip..........I think this one actually installs? unlike 1.59......Did you get rid of 1.59 first?.....Will it upgrade it?.......Will the two co-exist?
Thanks, been hanging for a reply from someone,
    Buck

Don't know for sure Buck, but you can only run one at a time. As long as they have their own home on your system,
    I don't see any problems...

PS - That screenie above looks like BHODemons, I would think install...

On installation, yes and no. Yes it does "install" to the Program Files directory (C:\Program Files\Intermute\Spysubtract) and places a shortcut on the desktop. However, it's really the same as before, it's a standalone executable and you won't see an entry under Add/Remove Programs.

Since they are both standalone, should be able to have both available so long as you don't create filename conflicts and, as GlobalForce notes, run them at the same time.

Version 1.59 should be terminal, I assume it doesn't upgrade beyond the present state.

Why not keep both versions, you don't have to run them together!

If you want to follow the debate go here:- http://spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php?t=6883

There are a lot of additional links at the bottom of the thread.

I might add that that the InterMute zip file includes TWO progs, the new CWShredder together with something called System Report, which is useful to have and compiles a report of all your autostarts, BHOs, Toolbars etc - a bit like HJT really. But be aware that if you click the Send Report button on this it will send the details back to InterMute!

Yeah the file name conflict, good point Blue. I'd agree on 1.59 being terminal (no update).
Thanks for pointing that out and clarifying the issue, kudo's! ;)
