Couple SpywareGuard Questions ???

To avoid problems with new downloads I shut down running programs while downloading.

Within the Options tab of SpywareGuard, if the selections for "real time scanning engine", "Download Protection", and "Browser Hijack Protection" are shut down, are those options shut down immediately or do they take effect on the next boot.

A friend has two start up entries in run>>msconfig>>startup, (one entry is ticked on the other is ticked off) as a result his start up is running in diagnostic mode. Can he eliminate this double entry by shutting down both SpywareGuard entries in the startup menu, then remove SpywareGuard through Add/Remove, then remove any SpywareGuard folders he finds by running a search and finally reinstall SpywareGuard. Was going to recommend following that process to him but wasn't totally confident this was the way he should do it.
