I just downloaded the latest Beta from CounterSpy and found something interesting....it's got process control! This is the first antispyware program I have seen that will actually stop individual processes from starting, not the the seperate programs themselves. The program seems to run light on resources as well.

I havent fully tested the program, but it seems to protect just as well as other process control type apps, but you also have the Spyware definitions as well.

If you are not running Counterspy now, you should check this program out when it goes gold.

Where can you download it? Please give a link, IMO the old version sucked but you never know if they have really improved it this time. :)

Edit: I just saw a link in another thread, you need to sign up right now, so I will wait.

It's a public beta for a limited number of users.

OK thanks, I really hope that it has been improved, I´ve been reading some good stuff about it. Do you know when it will become open to the public? :)

You mean the final release of 2.0?
Don't know. There was a post about that not too long ago.
If you mean the public beta, that may still be open for testing.

It sure looks mostly the same. But I can't wait to see what's added!

Thanks for the screenies, so basically it´s still watching for the same stuff, nice but I´m not sure if it will be good enough, I have to admit that I´m mainly interested in the HIPS part, and it still covers some stuff that others don´t. I hope they will catch up soon. :D

How has counterspy improved over time since the beta started? I wonder because I tried it back then and it was still buggy and would crash or freeze windows.

There is a long list of fixed and known issues for CounterSpy 2.0 beta at the Sunbelt beta forum. I have stopped testing it for a while and RC is on the way and the final version will be out by the end of the year.
