What about Counterspy 2.5 as AV?

Is this relaese better than the AV-Comparatives tested 2.2 one?

    Thanks.

    Hybrid Engine.

CounterSpy is powered by a hybrid engine that merges spyware detection and remediation with Sunbelt's all-new VIPRE (Virus Intrusion Protection Remediation Engine). VIPRE incorporates both traditional antivirus technology and cutting-edge antimalware techniques. This marriage of technologies enables CounterSpy to respond more effectively than other products to today's increasingly complex and blended threats.

Yes. Exactly what I'm talking about.

Any idea of improvements in 2.5 release?

    @WsFuser
    Take a look in AV-Comparatives:
"Test of other Anti-Virus products February 2007 ", you can find AV test.

    Best Regards
    Mike

Are they saying, if you run CounterSpy with this new Hybrid engine, you don't need a separate stand alone antivirus? I checked the detection rate at AV-Comparatives, it doesn't look all that great.

The above quote came from here:-

The Prevx people also claim you can run their product without an AV, and maybe you can, but that doesn't mean it's an ideal suggestion for most people. Personally I'd rather run an AV without an AS, than an AS without an AV. Having said that, I think Sunbelt is heading towards an all in one solution, and CS's execution protection may even offer better protection than an AV in some situations - if the user knows when to click 'Deny'.

    NOD32 AV
is an excellent AV but very costly in year one
    and yes I use it

    CounterSpy AS 2.5
    is an excellent AS
    with nice pricing
they ran a 9.95 special last month
    - you need to pay 10.00USD more Now the 1st year
then a lot less on following years

But take a look at avast! av - its free and dont worry unless you search risky sites.
    I use it

and take at look at WinPatrol to Guard against unwanted changes to you computer.
    I use it
