Kind of stuck here. Been screwing around with one of my Debian 12 VMs. This VM has worked well on my Laptop for years and has many days worth of tweaks so I don't want to rebuild it from scratch except as last measure. I am building a great Desktop machine with a 4K monitor and massive horsepower. Trying to save time I simply want to import the VM in question to the host running 24.04 with VBox working well on that system disk. My Deb 12 VM will not take the updated extension pack image. I have read it might have to do with signing keys or whatever. The host is running 7.0.18 (whatever the latest version is) on 24.04. The VM is stuck on version 6.0.XXX for the extension pack. I can click on the session management tab in VBox and it displays 6.0.XXX and it won't upgrade to 7.0.18. I have downloaded the extension pack to the Desktop of the VM and it will NOT extract. That download extracts easily on the host and I verified the sha256 of the download. FYI --- The virtual machine itself is faster than I have ever seen on this puter. Damn fast and works in every other way. The look is just off a little with the extension iso versions now about 3-4 changes apart. BTW - I updated the laptop to VirtualBox 7.0.18 and the same thing happens there. My VM won't upgrade there either. The laptop host is also running Deb 12 Signing Keys issue of some sort?? ANY linux guru's here with some suggestion on how to resolve this?
https://www.wilderssecurity.com/thr...l-driven-not-installed-missing-gcc-12.453477/ I also followed your guide and in fact my 24.04 was missing gcc-12. I installed it and then rebooted. Next I ran sudo /sbin/vboxconfig and now it completes fine like you said it would. Still cannot get the VM to upgrade the extension version. Still plinking away at it.
