Just by coincidence i ran emco malware destroyer for the first time on windows 7 and it found something called "NMC.COOLWEBSEARCH.ALFASEARCH". Unfortunately i cant find the logfile for it, but it is the only scanner i have (which is quite a few) that detected it. I looked up the files and reg entries on google and they looked legit.

I dont know if this is related but you might try running a scan with it just in case. Some (not me) have complained of too many fps with this program so thoroughly check every item detected. you can right click on each item found for detailed info.

JCools` issue and your post have nothing to do with each other. Hence, no need for any scans.
