Have NOD32 on a Win2k SP4 box w 512MB ram. This evening I noticed that the Control Center was NOT in the systray! Looking at the logfiles there is an entry in the event log at 7:50:15 for the 20060426 definintions. The next entry is at 18:50 when I restarted the control center and it updated definitions to 20060427. It is really unnerving to see the control center disappearing like this especially when NOD32 is password protected!

Well if I disable AMON and then reboot the computer, it will act all crazy untill the next restart. Some of it would be: Won't start, won't load the control panel, Ignores obvios viruses.. So keep restarting untill it's enabled, that's all I can tell you.

This isn't the first time I have seen this happen under Win2k SP4. It has done it a while ago on another computer that I look after.

    I would also reinstall NOD32.

When you remove it from Add/Remove programs, manually delete the folder "ESET" in C:\Program files

I would also check for malware infections with other vendor's product before reinstalling NOD32 just to make sure .

I would do that before the uninstall, but that's up to you - each to thier own so to speak :)

One has to use another vendor's product to check for malware? ;)

Guess I can try that but wonder if they will respond?

P.S. Got a reply back. They indicated that there was nothing unusual except that I have NOD32 installed on a partition other than C: .
