    It's not a matter of detection but not being compromissed by the rootkit.
    Actually, very few snapshots applications (system restore like) isn't compromissed by the rootkit, i.e., even if you restore the machine to an earlier snapshot, that snapshot could get infected.
    Side by side with the system restore application you need an antivirus.

    I'm using avast and Comodo Time Machine.

    Or run an AE like Faronics has,which IMO, I wouldnt run DeepFreeze without their AE and there wouldnt be any bypassing.

    If you run AE then you don´t need DeepFreeze (to restore system from an infection)
