@ Ance It still has a large number of FPs although detection has improved of late.

@ Acuariano I don't use the AV personally but I believe it's supposed to be light.Never a good idea to run 2 AVs together in real-time,the exception would be to use Immunet which claims to co-exist happily with other AVs.I'd go with an on demand scanner such as Hitman Pro myself.

By the way, can anyone try to repair their CIS and let me know whether it works properly.

I updated my CIS from 4.729 to 4.826. Everything is working fine except that the repair option in add/remove is grayed out. It says "Comodo Internet Security cannot be repaired."

I am now wondering whether my copy of CIS is corrupt.

    Any advice on this.
    Thanks

I don't know as I did not try before, I think that I'll have to do a clean install to fix this problem.

Why in 4.0 fw Network Security Policy< global rules there is the rule " Allow IP any destination address...." ?? (I don't remember well the name, I came back to 3.14 for the moment ). Im' not sure it is a good idea.

    Oh boy

How I love those remarks like "anything the AV might miss will be caught by D+'" and "Send FP's to Comodo thet fix it quickly"

First I want to state that CTM + CFW (FW - D+ - Sandbox + Community feedback) are top notch freeware products, I would not hesitate advisiing those to any PC user who has mediocre safe hex habits/security understanding.

So that said: why do you want an AV beside a sandbox and a HIPS

    1. Reduce the number of decisions I have to make myself (blacklist filter)

    2. Do not increase the level of confusion (false positives)

Please get real: pop-ups are no guarantee for protection, they just give the user a second chance, less choices, less chances of user errors. That is why sandbox is such a good idea, automatically contain unsigned software from the real system, ideally a good AV has filtered out a lot of bad ones before you can click on the executable (at disk write, at scanned web traffic or mail received, etc)

    Kees,
Easy, watch your blood pressure. I think that most people have been beaten into thinking that an AV is part of a good layered security. Most like people I understand that AV is not going to save me but I like it there....just in case. I really depends on how much security do you think is enough. It varies per person. I can't remember who it was but in one of the posts a few weeks ago, he had I think 10 security apps running. Then you have people that only use defensewall. I do understand your point and agree with it.

I will, no problem, just CFW and CTM are real good aps. Why go for CIS suite when you can blend a best of brands suite yourself with CTM + CFW + Avast or Avira or Panda (as freewares f.i.)

    Cheers

I can only comment on why people use it and don't have any first hand knowledge. Maybe they want a seemless solution rather than bits and pieces. I wouldn't use comodo AV because I would rather use avira for its detection. Thats my personal oppinoin though. That and a dollar will get a coffee at mcdonalds.
